Castle Tour

Today is the first day of Spring.  Today is also the first day we were comfortable enough to go out in shorts and a t-shirt, although after an hour we though we were a bit overdressed.  We have been planning to take a tour around the entire castle defence walls or the old town since last fall.  The aim of this was to look at all the defence towers that line the perimeter of the city walls.  There are a lot of them.  What we found, other than the towers,  was a lot of other interesting places. One that looks like a miniature town, nestled behind the walls that is very reminiscent of the Golden Lane in Prague.  We found a lot of different sporting facilities in the moat of the castle, from skateboard park, to basketball courts to a small dirt football field, track and field facilities, and some gardens as well as a number of parks, and playgrounds.  The walk around the perimeter of the old tow is about 7.5km which took us just over 2 hours – 630 pictures later and a lot of beautiful blue sky and warm sunshine.  Welcome spring….we missed you.
