MAXXI

MAXXI – National Museum of the 21st Century Arts, is a national museum of contemporary art and architecture in Rome and is about 5 min walk from the gorgeous apartment we are staying in. The museum was built on the old and decommissioned military compound site.  This spectacular building was designed by Zaha Hadid who passed away this year.  She was a great architect and a designer, a particular favourite of mine.  Walking through this building is simply breathtaking, the actual building is an object of art in itself.  MAXXI would be just as beautiful if it was devoid of all the art contained within it.  The MAXXI has been acclaimed by The Guardian as “Hadid’s finest built work to date” and a masterpiece fit to sit alongside Rome’s ancient wonders.
