Today we said our goodbyes to our dear friends Mozejkos, whom we had a pleasure of seeing 4 times on this trip. Twice we were guests at their home and twice they came to visit us in Nuremberg. We always have a great time with Mozejkos and we are already missing them. Thank you again […]
Summer in Denmark
The weather forecast has changed from sunny with a chance of showers to pouring rain with a chance of deluge. It was essentially raining sideways for most of the afternoon. Despite our rain gear, by the time we walked from the Little Mermaid to the shops, we were absolutely soaked to the bone. The only saving grace was […]
Well, it started to rain, so instead of going to see the Little Mermaid statue we decided to take an early lunch. Henrik suggested a great place that serves traditional open face Danish sandwiches, with just about anything you can imagine on them. There is 40 thousand types of herring, from pickled to curried, eel, meatballs, chicken […]
Changing of the Guard
After visiting Ørestad we drove to Fields, which is a massive shopping mall, to park the car and take the metro to the old town. The driverless metro decided to have some issues today so we were running late, and risked missing the show at the Royal Palace. We rushed from the metro station to […]
A place like Ørestad could not possibly have an ordinary playground. Located in the grassy field across the canal is a massive park. In the park, there is a massive ship which is about 80m long with steps, benches and a playhouse and a bunch of rocks to climb on. Not far from the ship is a […]
Off to Copenhagen
We are off to Copenhagen. It is about 1.5 hour drive across the famous Great Belt Bridge. It is a beautiful and sunny day but there is a chance of rain in the afternoon for Copenhagen so we have a Plan B just in case.
Our second part of the day was filled with a trip to the old town Odense. Even though we just had lunch we made a quick stop for a Danish hot dog and of course more Danish soft serve ice cream. We wondered around for the afternoon and got home just in time to make […]
Relaxing with Ice Cream
Today we are taking a day off to relax. In a typical Danish style, when we visit here, it’s raining. Great day to relax, catch up and do nothing. After dinner we decided to check out a different ice cream place to see how it compares. There is a 7 scoop special on the go […]
This post should really come with its Health Warning – this treat, which is about the size of a small polar bear, is a lot easier to order than it is to finish. Vaffelhuset is the famous ice cream shop in Kerteminde. During summer it is open until 11 pm. Day or night, rain or […]
After a light dinner, we set off to Kerteminde, which is a sea town about 12 min drive from Odense. Kerteminde has about six thousand inhabitants and one very famous ice cream shop. It also has a newly renovated seawall where people come to hang out if they don’t feel like walking to the beach which […]
We have arrived! It was a nice drive and relatively uneventful one as well. 900 km, 18 construction zones, 3 accidents, luckily on the other side of the road, 3 stalled vehicles and one road side fire, also on the other side of the road and one OMG slam the brakes emergency stop.
Right then, we are setting off on our last holiday on this trip so we will make it a proper one this time around. This is the only holiday which we actually planned months ago, booked hotels months ago and got it all planned out – all months ago. We are all looking forward to it. […]
After a week of relaxation and socialization – Mozejkos are going back home. We hope to see them again before we head home, it is always a pleasant visit, that is fun, entertaining.
Right, so with Mozejkos here it was inevitable that we would be going back to L’Osteria – it is everyone’s favourite pizza joint in Nuremberg and even mid week you need reservations to get it – it’s a crazy place. After pizza we went next door for some gelato.
Back to Prague
We spent another great day in Prague and we did not step foot into a single church. Right now it is our go to city for a day trip. We have been to Munich 5 times already but that was out of necessity, we have been to Prague 3 times because we wanted to go […]
Going Back – To Prague
It is another weekend and we are setting off to Prague for another day trip. It is an amazing city, and we love it there. In the caravan following us are Mozejkos, we are going to explore this town a bit more.
Our Danish friends are here for a week. First order of the day is to go out for a walk after a big brunch. The day did not live up to its +15C today but any day without snow, wind or sleet we will take. Beautiful day to be outside – tomorrow a day […]
I don’t think you can walk more than 50 m through the Copenhagen train station without running into a 10m x 15 m advertisement for one of these. At first we ignored it and remain strong and sceptical. I mean who drinks Baileys these days anymore? Finally we gave in and got a bottle they […]
Italians vs. Vikings
It appears that Top Gear has taken some liking to our family chariot. Being listed once on the Top Gear site was like winning a lottery, twice is just crazy. Weekend in Cars has our lovely Alfa proudly displayed crossing the Great Belt Bridge on our trip to Copenhagen. A big thanks to the Mozejko […]
The Great Belt Bridge
On the way to Copenhagen we get to drive on the Storebæltsforbindelsen, or the Great Belt Bridge. It is 18km long bridge that goes over a part of the Baltic Sea! It is not cheap to take it but it is very fast and convenient. The construction of the fixed link became the biggest building project […]
We are setting off for a week of holidays. The children are getting their first fall school break, which is well deserved and earned as they have been working very hard both in school and with Saskia their private tutor. We are going to be heading up to Denmark and Sweden driving mostly through Germany. […]
Pottenstein the Beautiful
Other than Legoland I think Pottenstein is the kids second favourite place in Europe. Although Boris has mentioned that it is time we visited some bigger cities, like Paris, London so he can promptly get the equivalent Lego architecture set to assemble. As per usual we still like photographing all the great food we eat. […]
Sausages and Birthday
The little Dane is turning 13 today. We went out to one of out favourite sausage restaurants today and followed it with a cake at home. It is true that we have moved in to our new apartment but for now we still have more furniture in boxes that we have furniture that is assembled. […]
Keep it cool
We finally have a fridge! It is now the only thing in out kitchen that works and is assembled. Also we have the first customer checking it out. Of course we brought this in the Alfa, its a car that keeps on giving.
It is unbelievably hot. At 11:30 last night it was 27°C and no wind in sight. This morning at 9:30 it was 32°C and at 11:30 it climbed to 41.5°C and stayed there until about 4:30 pm. We spent most of the day at the apartment moving things, assembling the furniture, shifting boxes and packing […]
Dinner with Friends
The great Danes are here. We are heading out for a quiet dinner at our favourite go to pizza place in town. Food is always great, service is excellent and the atmosphere is amazing. What more could you ask for?
