St. Egidien

We have walked past this church many times on many walks to the old town.  The kids walk by it everyday, twice a day, going to and from school. The church is  considered a significant contribution to the baroque church architecture of Middle Franconia.  The original medieval church was started in the early 12th Century, and was built as a Benedictine monastery. It was a three-aisled basilica in the Romanesque style. In the 15th century, the church was rebuilt and extended.  It is a neat little place that reminds us of churches in Prague.
