St. Peter’s

Like yesterday, first thing in the morning, we went to see a bit of Rome, but this time on the other side of the river.  We went to St. Peter’s Basilica fully expecting to see thousands of people lined up trying to get in and see the house of the richest god there ever was.  Surprisingly, there were no people or lineups so we waltzed right in, except for the ladies who needed to go back and get some scarves because god finds bare shoulders offensive.  Inside St. Peter’s you immediately felt small and insignificant like a termite, among the opulence of miles of glistining marble and tonnes of gold everywhere.  This must be the greatest display of wealth anywhere and it is absolutely breath-taking.
