Arabian Nights

Sandy beach and a 5 start hotel in Abu Dhabi!  Check

Tickets and transfers – Check

Suitcases, swim shorts and sun block  packed – Check

Train tickets to Munich and back – Check

No line up at the business class check in at Etihad Airlines – check

…but the computer says NO to the passport  requirements !

It turns out that one of our passports is due to expire on the 24th of next month, the new passport has not arrived and so as the old  New Order song goes it all got ‘ Ruined in a Day’.  Next day at 10 am I checked with the Polish Embassy in Munich about the passport and it was ready for pick up. I could make it to  Munich in about 75 minutes to pick it up before the Embassy closes but by this time it was too late to rebook the flight, too expensive  to book a new flight and frankly we lost the will to travel. After over 13 months of travels – we have been defeated, but we are taking it in stride, believing that there is a reason for everything in life – so there is no use in crying over spilled milk.  Just like Paris did not want us to leave, Europe did not want to give us up either….  C’est la vie.

So upsetting!!! What a trip that would’ve been. Dubai & Abu Dhabi are also very popular destinations from DK, we hope to make the journey one day!

Yes Dubai – where the wealthy go to play, where the rich feel poor and the rest of us pretend to belong. We remain undaunted by this recent defeat and hope to actually make it there one day as well. So if you are going – let us know when?

Not in the near future, that’s all I can say. Summer & Xmas travels are already booked for this year. 😉 earliest sometime in 2015.
