The Concert

After my day out at Monza, I got back to the Villa Medici for the piano concert which I was invited to by Maestro Kanno.  Together with a number of other guests and the owner of this fabulous place we watched 4 young musicians show off their polished skills after  a week of teaching and a lot of practicing.  After the concert everyone received a diploma for successfully finishing Master’s Class in Piano with Maestro Kanno.  With the official part of the evening being done, everyone was invited downstairs to have a cake an a glass or two of Prosecco.    At 830pm we all met in the same restaurant for dinner, including two new guests Karen and Carlos from Boston,  who are also here for F1.

With the dinner finished the party moved back to the villa.  More wine and more cheese and a lot more relaxing atmosphere.  We were all treated    to more wonderful music played by all the students and  Mr. Kanno himself.  It is amazing to see someone open a book and start playing music they have never seen before as if they have been practicing this piece for weeks or months.  This was not simple stuff either, it is Rachmaninoff,  Schubert and Liszt which are not your everyday starting piano pieces.  This only goes to show how talented and good these guys really are.  They all are professional musicians who are still studying to be even better – simply WOW.   What a wonderful and memorable treat this truly  was.
