Marktkauf

This is a public service announcement!  Things to remember.  Never, ever got to Marktkauf or any other grocery store, I would imagine,  in Germany at 5:30pm.  Imagine Costco a week before Christmas, with incoming snow storm of a millennium, and everything in the store  is 99% off.  Now, multiply this by a 100 and there you have it, your average before dinner shopping in Germany!  Christ, I could have grown the food, cooked it and even built a refinery to make a plastic bag to take it all home while waiting in the line up to pay for it, only to be informed, at the end of it all, that its cash only.   Luckily we now carry some cash everywhere we go because very few places take credit cards or debit cards, at least the abnormal Canadian ones we have.

Grocery shopping in Germany at 5:30 needs to be avoided like the plague that it is!

It’s the same thing here. Our fridge is BIG by Danish standards and we *still* have to go shopping daily. Hint: go around 7:30 pm. The grocery stores are deserted!

Yes – things I wish I knew beforehand. There are two fridges and two freezers in this house and still we go shopping every other day.
