Monterosso

The Cinque Terre –  “The Five Lands” comprises five villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  We are setting off on a train which goes between these 5 villages where we can hop off and back on the train to explore them all.  It is about 5 to 10 min ride between villages but since no one really feels like hiking we are going to take the easy way out.  Montereosso is the first village, great beach, warm water,  first stop for gelato and a nice walk in a quiet costal town.
